Are American Women Truly Free?

I recently experienced an epic journey to Egypt with my 15-year-old daughter. It was a life-long dream to go to Egypt and immerse myself in the culture and rich ancient history. This trip did not disappoint.

Every day, as we visited the ancient sites, I was filled with awe, powerful energy, gratitude, curiosity, and fear. We went on a spiritual journey, and it was an invitation to become one with the temples, pyramids, and culture. It was a trip of a lifetime.

You might have caught that I mentioned fear. Why fear? Because I am a woman, and women are not free in Egypt.

Even though I knew this going into the journey, I unexpectedly and deeply felt it both physically and emotionally my whole time in Egypt. My solar plexus had a tight/nervous feeling, and I was hyper-sensitive during my own conversations and interactions with Egyptian men. Even though no one was threatening me, I felt unsafe. I felt unsafe being in a country where female citizens do not have autonomy or the ability to dream. I knew that as a tourist, I was protected and “safe” from harm, but I took in the energy of the culture, and I felt the oppression.

As I observed the women and girls in Egypt, which wasn’t easy because they were mostly invisible to us, I was struck.

They don’t have the ability to manifest their dreams unless their father allows it. When I was a little girl, I was able to dream and have the expectation that if I worked hard, my dreams could come true. I was able to express myself verbally, physically, emotionally, and through writing.

Now that I am back in the United States of America, I feel relief, and my solar plexus has relaxed. I haven’t stopped thinking about it, though.

American women have access to the freedom to freely express themselves in every way, to dream, and to make life choices unilaterally. Yet, from a very young age, we are trained by our patriarchal system not to love ourselves. We are trained to please others, put ourselves last, be ashamed of our bodies, and always strive for an idea of perfection that is unattainable. Therefore, we are not truly free.

American women and girls have access to freedom, but unless they have a foundation of self-love, they are not free.

Self-love is the greatest form of resistance to the American patriarchal system.

This passion is what fueled my new, best-selling book, The Life-Changing Power of Self-Love: An Essential Guide.

“The Life-Changing Power of Self-Love: An Essential Guide” By Tina Green
The Life-Changing Power of Self-love: An Essential — at Dendera: Temple of Hathor

When a woman truly loves herself, the external voices from the patriarchal system no longer define her; she no longer judges herself and others, and she has personal freedom.

When a woman truly loves and accepts herself, everything changes, and anything is possible!

So, American women, do you hear me?

Self-love is the answer to being truly free. Time to let go of the

“I’m not good enough,”
“I’m too much,”
“I’m too fat,”
“I am ashamed,”
“I am not ready.“

And truly embodied the freedom that we have access to in our country.

Let’s honor our sisters in parts of the world where freedom is not allowed by not taking our freedom for granted. Let’s put ourselves and our needs first.

Let’s meet our own needs and love ourselves first so we can then serve the world.

Here are some ways you can start to cultivate your self-love:
